Closer to a 3.5. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, but it was a light and fun adventure story full of magical things.
I loved this book as a child, and loved it even more as a movie. I'm not the biggest fan of anime, but Brad coaxed me into it with Princess Mononoke, which I adored. The same director, (whose name I'm too lazy to find and type,) also did Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away. Now I have a desperate desire to watch them all again. They're definite comfort movies.

I am so glad I read this book before watching the movie. Obviously the book was much better. My daughter turned me onto this story. It is not something I would have sought out on my own but after reading it, I would continue to read the series.
So fun! Why was I wasting my teen years reading VC Andrews when I could have been reading stuff like this??
