This is a very important book that i think everyone should read. The analysis here is heartbreakingly acute, and mass incarceration is something those of us committed to social justice should certainly be talking about more often, and louder. I've read several books over the past couple of years dealing with racial justice. This is one of the best I have read. Alexander does an excellent job of explaining where there are failings and the history behind them. Excellent book to gain awareness and understanding of the issues the the Black Lives Matter movement is working to bring attention. loved this book. It really explains why the prison system is the new jim crow and how it has been systematically implanted into the society and people's minds that makes it harder to fight it compared to the old jim crow laws
