Snapshot of the artist as a young man, it's so autobiographical. I saw it as a cry for help for his generation, of the monied class anyway.
Amusingly, as I was looking for inspiration toward the end I got all fired up about socialism, even though he wasn't seeming sincere during that part. Book group was all about doting mothers and extended adolescence and well read students without discipline or a purpose. ...more
