If you were to ask me if I had read To Kill a Mockingbird before 2009, I would have replied "Of course." Of course I read it in high school. Honestly, I can't remember a thing about it, so obviously it didn't make an impression, but nonetheless I read it.
Now, I'm not so sure that I ever did.

Finally got around to reading this one, since I skipped it in high school. Interesting look at racial attitudes in America - set in the 1930s. Didn't realize that it has often been billed as a coming-of-age story until after I read it and looked at a few reviews here on goodreads. The coming-of-age label seems a strange one...I would classify it as a snapshot of American life and a commentary on American thought.
Enjoyable characters. Vivid setting. Quick, engaging read.
