Sort of a more likeable version of THE ROYAL TENNENBAUMS set in San Francisco and at least half the smarm of that film. I get the impression that this was originally a screenplay that didn't sell, and was thus turned into a novel.

I listened to the audio version. The narrator was hilarious. Overall a good read.
