Izzy Spellman works for her family's detective agency. That's a bland way to describe her and her family - which is markedly unusual. Sort of a more likeable version of THE ROYAL TENNENBAUMS set in San Francisco and at least half the smarm of that film. I get the impression that this was originally a screenplay that didn't sell, and was thus turned into a novel. ...more
