So far I am liking this it reminds me of World War Z. It is told in an interview/narrative style. This is a fast moving read. Good creepy science fiction made even creepier because the author has a Ph.D. in Robotics! It was a great way to kick off my summer reading.

So far I am loving this book! Interesting point of view as Cormac Wallace transcribes the events of the robot war as taken from the core of the artificial intelligence unit, Archos. One way to view this would be; Disney's Wall-E gone bad!
I will write a more formal review once I finish the book!

Made it to page 289 and stop. The entire human race is being wiped out and I don't care. All the characters are one dimensional, uninteresting, and speak with the same dispassionate voice. The action is dull and plot advancement jerky and convenient. There is a great idea in here, just horrible execution. ...more

I listened to this while on a road trip. I enjoyed it but probably would have liked it much better if I had read it instead.

This was a great listen! It’s the story of how the war with AI begins in some underground lab in some secret nowhere state. The AI not only wants to live, it also wants to save the planet from humans. It brings sentience to all kinds of robots from household servants to peacekeepers to war machines. They can be better stewards by learning the ways of nature, so they thought. They learn our ways in order to eradicate us. But they don’t bet on our ability to outsmart and to live at all costs.

I really enjoyed this. I hadn't read any sci-fi in awhile, but I decided to read this on the recommendation of a few people I know who liked it as well. It started out kind of slow, and was disjointed for awhile - but once it got going it was interesting to see how the humans came together to fight back. ...more
