The beauty of this book is in the way the author captures the voice of each character--and so it translates wonderfully into an audiobook, especially with a narrator as skilled as Anne Flosnik. For a book that starts so strongly and came so highly recommended I found this to be pretty disappointing. I really liked the parts told by Little Bee, the phrase "And then the men came" will probably haunt me forever. Then the book would switch to Sarah, who I felt no connection with. I felt she was self-centered and just did things because that's what people are supposed to do, not because she had any really feelings one way or the other. This was an easy book to get absorbed in Little Bee and Sarah's world. There were times that I really didn't care for either woman or the choices they made, but maybe that is what makes them realistic. This book is about how one moment can alter lives - physically, mentally, and emotionally.
