A war between heaven and hell set against the backdrop of Europe in the evil throes of the Black Death. The author has done a great job of breathing life into his characters making them interesting and vivid for the reader. Vivid also is his descriptions of what the effects the plague must have had on the human population of the times.
Well written and at times terrifying this book will keep you thinking about it long after you have finished it.

Brilliant. The book is mislabeled as it is more historical fiction with fantasy elements thrown in then true horror. Wonderful character descriptions, pacing is great, setting is perfect--really captures 14th century France and the Plague, just wonderful. Only small annoyance is the ending, which as with Those Across the River was a bit abrupt, but was satisfying enough. A great novel all around.
