This was a good read. I was expecting a little more, as I hear lots of good things about the series this is crossed with, even though I've never dipped into them.

Don't get me wrong, if the next one was out I'd totally binge the series, as its got a good slow burn angsty thing going on, but apart from that I didn't view it as anything massively superior.

I can't lie, i was a bit disappointed when I first started reading. I was under the impression that this was Zak's story. I want to know all the things! But, this is really Sabor Rose's story with Zak just being a bonus. It took me a few chapters to get into this new character. She is a bit different from the other strong female leads in the Guild Codex books. She is a morally gray character and very stabby. I love her. I loved this book. I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out!

I've read several of Marie's books now and enjoyed them all, to greater or lesser extents. Though I've not read all of the Spellbound series, which one of the main characters here is from. (I felt I was missing some history, but the story was certainly followable.) Regardless, I quite enjoyed this book too.

I liked both Saber and Zak as main characters, and Rikr was a fun side characters. The little bit of mystery was engaging and I enjoyed seeing the characters in action. I did, however, think ...more

Uggggg! Annete Marie is good with the Cliffhanger/Non-Hanger

Fast paced, lots of aggression and more smexy then her other works.
