This was an absolutely adorable book and I really enjoyed it. It’s definitely more on the sweet side and while the characters don’t have insta-love there’s definitely immediate attraction that their relationship builds on. Plus the characters are picked as chemical matches and perfect mates so all that’s left for them is getting to know one another and helping the heroine heal. Neera needs to get off Earth before it kills her. The oxygen content is too high and her body can't handle it. She can't afford to move off world, but if she accepts a match through the Prime Mating Agency, they'll cover her travel expenses and set her up on a habitable planet. All she has to do it take a merman as a mate.
Echo's kind have trouble conceiving, and their males outnumber females by a huge majority, so he's not going to let a potential match change her mind.

This was really good, the FMC goes through so much that it definitely got me in the feels. The secondary characters are really cute too. This was a really good, adorable romance.

As someone with chronic illnesses i defs related to this more than others wouldve.
I also while not a beach bum myself am an aussie and therefore the climate scenery and general tropical paradise coral reef cool wildlife was again very relatable.
As was the whole coming from a shitty family basically being alone and wanting to be part of a community and contribute and be loved and accepted and cared for without condition and yet feeling constantly guilty for it since previous shitty people and u As someone with chronic illnesses i defs related to this more than others wouldve.

As was the whole coming from a shitty family basically being alone and wanting to be part of a community and contribute and be loved and accepted and cared for without condition and yet feeling constantly guilty for it since previous shitty people and upbringing made requiring even basic needs and ever showing weakeness or not being strong alone make you feel like anything less than constantly being on yoir a game and basically their slave and people pleaser and such makes you a burden you know for natural stuff like being tired suddenly you feel like a horrible incovienience who could never possibly be loved or worthy of care etc.

I feel like that aspect relating to shitty upbring and general life and then getting hit with illness on top of that flew over so many peoples heads whove reviewed this.
Like its monumental and potrayed super well as is the whole general tranformation and relationship between two very giving overthinkers who seem to constantly almost recklessly put others first which in the water world is healthy and reciprocated but for her and frankly anyone outside that tight knit community that would detrimental and because of her issues the kinder he is the more uncomfortable she is because it brings up her issues so its nice to see them naturally work through that and find a balance and i also enjoyed this book actually showing some of the pregnancy vs it being essentially a footnote in the other books. I wouldve like more community interaction same with the naga one actually. I feel like minotaur and lizard had the best of everything. Ive yet to read birdman as i wanted to save it for last given i read minotaur first and the couple features in that and yeah it felt right to end on the same world i started. i just keep loving this series. the reason for Neera and Echo getting married is different than the others. but i knew they were going to be perfect mates for each other bc of their humor and banter. i was so glad they quickly realized they needed to stop overthinking and just be themselves so they could learn about their mate and give their marriage a real ...more
