Okay, this was so so SO good. I really, really, REALLY hope the author continues many books with this character, Robin. Fascinating, I love her and Zyla. Perfection! :)

I didn't like the beginning much, tbh, because Robin was such a doormat. I was shocked when we found out she was 20, because frankly she seemed like she was 15. This is an adult, who is somehow incapable of showing some spine, hiring a lawyer, and getting the shit her uncle is stealing from her. She cowers in front of him and everyone else, and I came pretty close to DNF.

But it got better. Basically, as soon as she got away from her uncle, it got better. She still is a bit of a doormat though. H ...more

This wasn't exactly what I expected, but I found that I enjoyed what it turned out to be. I liked Robin. She was mousey when faced with confrontation, but a dragon when left to her own devices to do the right thing. Her demon (I'm not even gonna try and spell his name since I
listened to the audio) was marvelously sarcastic. But what I really liked was that he wasn't The Biggest and The Baddest. He's plenty tough, but not brutish and more interested in being sneaky and smart than physically stro ...more

It’s a NA/YA paranormal, slow burn story around Robin, a sorceress that never practices magic, but only studies. “Taming demons for Beginners” is the first book in the Demonized series from the Guild Codex Universe by Annette Marie.

It’s a NA/YA paranormal, slow burn story around Robin, a sorceress that never practices magic, but only studies. The story starts as Robin, recently orphaned, goes to live with her uncle and cousins and discovers her uncle invoking a demon. Robin sees all of this and by some random mistake ends up developing some sort of connection with the demon, Zylas, and while helping him she discovers that something more grave that an illegal contract seems to be going on and it may relate to her parents death.

Robin is a shy, introverted girl who is suddenly thrown into the center of action, I like her and I love that she spends her time reading and baking and I specially liked how we get to see her grow and get out of her shell through the whole series. I also like Amalia, her cousin who is being her support even though they just met, and I love Zylas and how protective he is, I love his relationship with Robin and how they are initially joined by baked goods (I love baked goods btw) and even thought at first I thought this was a really slow romance for my taste I wouldn’t change a thing.

This was my first book in the Guild Codex Universe but it’s not the first series and even even thought you do not need to have read the previous series to understand what is happening, the stories do connect eventually and you may get some spoilers. So if you are planing to read all books in this universe I recommend you follow the order, although I didn’t and read first this series and then Spellbound and I must say that I bing read it and I am excited for the new series in this universe. Specially Zac 😉.
