I wasn't sure LT would be able to carry on the awesomeness we had in books 1 & 2. But boy did she! Damn if that year long wait for this book wasn't hell. But I'll be honest it was worth every moment of author/book update stalking lol. Having just finished this I'm blown away especially by the ending. How I will make it till the release of Death I do not know. Pray for me!
Famine as promised is a lot harsher, crueler and set to his ways than his I had no idea what to expect going in to this book. Famine as promised is a lot harsher, crueler and set to his ways than his brothers. Hell he has the heroine stabbed practically to death in the beginning and doesn't bat an eye. I was most curious how the author would bring Famine together with his woman and I really enjoyed the fact that the two actually share a past. A past in which she was the only human who showed him any true kindness, something the five years since they'd seen each-other had diluted. I absolutely loved this book from start to finish and while yes the horseman was surprisingly worse and more powerful than his brothers, I think I love him the most. The heroine too also was phenomenally written. Born in the time after the horsemen came to Earth, Ana unlike our previous heroine's has no memory of the times before or how things used to be. After the death of her parents and being taken in by a horrible & abusive family member Ana is taken in by a woman who thus trains her to work in a local brothel. I mean really though, what else is there to do to survive when the world is literally shit around you. Life is hard enough on a woman alone let alone one in the after of an apocalypse. Ana did what she had to to survive and I absolutely loved how she owned it. Her circumstances absolutely sucked but she did what she had to and good for her as I imagine she was the only person capable of getting through to Famine. Her little sexual quips and innuendos were also pretty funny especially given how Famine reacted ;)
The ending was both everything and the worlds biggest tease imaginable. Death has come down to Earth and he is ready and willing to take out the entire world. That is his plan and nothing will stand in the way of him achieving his goal. Love means nothing to him and his brothers and their wives are also inconsequential. While he claims to not plan to kill them immediately, in the end he wants all humans gone and that includes them. I loved watching the inner struggle Famine goes through. Unlike his brothers who are sort of pushed into a corner when it comes to their humanity, Famine willingly chooses Ana over it all, even the powers he loves so much. Now powerless the brothers and their wives will have to come together to take out Death, unless some magical human woman gets their first. I just can't imagine how anyone will even get close when Death can so easily make souls leave bodies from miles and miles away. I have no idea if Death can be redeemable like his brothers and how he'd ever get pushed into that corner but damn if I don't want to find out and find out NOW!!! Hoping beyond hope inspiration kicks in hard for LT because waiting for this book will be torturous. While I certainly don't want this series to end, I have the utmost faith it is going to knock our socks off, if only the real world doesn't continue to go to literal shit around us like it has. F*cking 2020 lol.

2021 Review (Still 5 Mind*Blowing Stars)

With the final book being released I needed to do a bit of rereading even if it was only with Famine's book. How I could have forgotten the brutal nature and cold heart of the horseman. It's hard to be impartial when it comes to him especially the more we learn of his backstory. It's as easy to sympathize with him as it is to condemn everything he's doing. Along with the heroine readers feel first hand the struggle of human nature. On one hand we really are a horrible species but as much evil we are capable of we are just as capable of doing good. This heroine is probably one of my favorites. She's real and struggled since day one. She's also only known life in the after, having been born years after the horsemen first arrived. Ana and the horseman also have a history, one I completely forgot about that really changed my thought process while reading. Then again how could I not love Ana when the girl continually gets stabbed or killed far too many times but always ALWAYS sticks to her guns. She knows how to be brave even when her insides are jelly and if all it takes is her turning a horsemen to save the world, then dammit that's what she'll do. The end was so epic that it just makes diving right into Death that much sweeter. Then again I also don't want to start because then I will have to finish and for a series of only 4 books, I have been hooked for years now and I'm not ready for them to end!

you know the drill. One of the Four Hourseman rides, mets a plucky heroine, falls in love, stops killing everyone...... Formulaic does not equal boring. This one is definitely a slow burn. I like that this heroine is not a sweet but brave young thing. She is jaded, she has done what she needed to do to survive in this world and that's just how it is. Famine has been the worst of the Horsemen so far. He is so over humanity. Overall this was a super entertaining read and I'm off to read Death. (al ...more

In the first chapter, I was thinking ‘Nah – will put this down and move on to another book’, for, at that time, I was really not in the mood to read a heroine who is into selling their bodies. I’ve read some before, and it mostly portrays the bad side of the sex-hungry, missing brain and common sense type, which will altogether get boring. But…. but, but… ...more

Ok ... So I've had a strange year so far (I mean who hasn't? is it still 2020-something???) Anyway, I enjoyed Pestilence, waited on War but then honestly forgot about these Horsemen.

Then I remembered and started War but for some reason I couldn't get into it. So I decided to start Famine instead ...as in I started reading a quarter of the way into the book. Loved it!!

It's funny, witty one-lines. Famine seems more chattier than the other two and makes use of current lingo. Plus he's also insanel ...more

Oof. It's been quite a while since my last review, I may be a little rusty. Let's see...

I like this universe. I like the premise of average women capturing the hearts of all powerful, deathly, immortal beings, and them giving up their divine task and changing their ways because of love. And I enjoyed Famine WAY more than I did War (honestly, I had such high hopes for War, and it was such a let down).

But, in a way, Famine wasn't as good as I would have hoped. I feel like I'll always be left ...more

Ana making sexual jokes made me uncomfortable because her life as a prostitute was hard. Even if there was some good memories, she suffered just as much. I had to adapt to it as it shows how strong and resilience her character is but she did it way too much.

Ana feeling devastated about her aunt's death wasn't logical considering she faced serious abuse. It's okay to hate someone that hurt her even if they provided a home for her.

First book always will be my favorite but this one is pretty good. ...more
