This book mentions Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, where I grew up. It's the first time I have seen it referenced in a work of fiction.

Another great story by Jennifer Weiner. A story with women at the center and the issue of bearing child - whether the inability or the women who help those who can't, I felt that this book was a great tribute to how women can create communities with very little in common. With each chapter based on a different character - it was easy and enjoyable to get to know each one and then see their stories mix and mingle.

I really enjoyed this book. I love books that offer a different point of view for each of the characters. This book was all about surrogacy and artificial insemination. I was particularly drawn to Annie. My sister-in-law was a surrogate for a stranger. She too had two young boys of her own and then carried a girl. I liked reading the stories each of the women involved had.

The first half of this book was very slow for me- the characters just were not likeable. In the end I did like India's story and I was glad she pulled herself together. You almost couldn't blame her for her behavior, after hearing about what a terrible childhood she had.
