Okay, first off, I have to say I'm biased, cos I wrote this. But I wrote it for a purpose. I wanted to write a book full of story elements I love to read about.
It has mystery, paranormal secrets that slowly unfold. It's set in a school, and it has a hero and heroine that are different and new. They're flawed, but not wimps. WOW!! I was totally captivated by this book. I absolutely LOVE the story told throughout this book and the reference to one of my FAVORITE legends.
J.D. Field has taken a story that has been written many times and made it modern with its own twists that grab a hold of you from the beginning of the book and keep you enticed all the way through. This was a wonderful beginning to a series and I was sucked in from the very beginning. It had a good balance of romance and action. I also think it was original and unpredictable (I haven't read a lot of fantasy though so maybe I just don't know). One other thing, I really liked the heroine, Maddy. She figured things out when a smart person should. I can't stand it when the clues are all there and the chick just can't put the pieces together to figure out what the heck is going on. Maddy was no
