Sirantha Jax saved me...kind of. I was wandering in a funk, couldn't find anything to read that caught my interest until I happened to look at the scifi shelf and found Wanderlust waiting for just this moment. Sirantha is one badass...ummm, "jumper"? She mostly doesn't navigate spaceships in this one because most action takes place on the ground. She manages to get herself into some very tough situations, with aliens and other people trying to kill (or eat) her and her crew. Her crew is fantasti

Please note: I received an ARC of this book (hooray for the Smart Bitches!); the book itself is due out on 8/26.
Oh, how do I love this series! And how much do I love Jax in particular, who is as fiery, determined, and attitudinal in this book as in the first in the series, Grimspace. After the events of the first book, Jax is unemployed, with her assets frozen due to her having been declared prematurely dead. When the government asks her to head up a new diplomatic mission to Ithiss-Tor, home wo ...more

The second Sirantha Jax book picks up a bit after Grimspace leaves off. After exposing Farwan for the crash of the Sargasso and how they have tried to manipulate the government Sirantha has been named as an ambassador, a post she is not very fitted for, to the Ithiss-Tor, a race of aloof, xenophobic "bugs" that are highly developed. Along the way she goes from the frying pan into the fire as she lands on a station devestated by the Morgat and then precipitates a war when she lands to get help fo

I was rather surprised that a good half of the main characters from the first book was relegated to supporting parts only in this installment. I'm talking about March and the Doc. They were basically replaced by Vel, Jael and Hit in Jax's crew. Not something I expected to see. The new characters were very likable but I missed Jax's interaction with March and the Doc, I missed the closeness that used to be between them...

Back to Jax again, I felt this one was even better than the first.
With the downfall of the Organization that once employed and then demonized Jax, the universe seems to be in a state of turmoil. And of course rogue companies and groups are striving to take advantage of this. Jax is once again most wanted- this time by the “bad guys,” as she is sent on a mission to become the ambassador of the government.

I anxiously awaited the release of this one and wasn't disappointed in the least. Fast paced and well told, a great story overall in the continuing saga of Jax.
Another year to wait for the next book...it's going to be a long year. Although Ann just posted a tease on her website - the first chapter of Doubleblind, the next book.
