Fast-paced and more enjoyable than I expected. Loved the ethical and engineering quandaries. Probably more of a 4.5 stars, leaning to 4, but for my favorite author, I think I can round up.

Falling Free by Lois McMaster Bujold is about Leo Graf, an engineer sent to teach at a distant space station. What he finds there ends up turning him into an activist.
His students are a genetically modified human subspecies called "quads" who have four arms instead of two arms and two legs. "The Warrior's Apprentice" is one of my favorite science fiction books of all time. This isn't anywhere near as good as that one. The story, while emotionally appealing, doesn't really have very much tension until the very end, and even then it doesn't keep the tension up for long. However, it is still an enjoyable read. I hope that in a future book she at least touches on the fate of these characters.
