Pretty Good! I'll definitely be reading more books by this author. Reminds me of the old-fashioned 'hard' sci-fi books. Very interesting concept. I'd sign up.

I liked this one a lot, so much so that I'm left wondering what took me so long. I've had this book and its sequals sitting on my shelf for quite some time, but something new always came up. So I'm glad I got around to it and even more glad I really enjoyed it, but there's about the something in the storytelling that really threw me off. I'll get back to that.

Old Man's War is is the start of John Scalzi's well known series of the same name. It opens with John Perry, aged seventy-five, visiting his wife's grave and then joining the army. Earth is at war with a variety of extra terrestrial species and her army is made up of volunteers who have lived their lives and want the chance at an extended life.

I loved the concept, the characters, the story. It is on my reread list.

This is the best military science fiction book I have ever read. I haven't read all of them, but I have read quite a few. I spent the entire time I read the book saying "This book is so fantastic!" over and over again. It isn't really heavy on the plot, as it is mainly a character driven story, but I think a lot of military sci-fi is like that. Definitely reminiscent of "The Forever War" and maybe a little of "Starship Troopers", but without as much about politics. This book is an absolute must
