Scalzi tries to pull off an "Orson Scott Card" parallel sequel. Zoe's Tale is to "The Last Colony" as Ender's Shadow is to ________. Come on, you can answer the SAT/ACT question can't you? This one does not come off quite as good as Card's sequels do but it is decent. Zoe's Tale is definitely YA, lot's of teenage hormones, banter and hijinx. I enjoyed it and the last quarter of the book gets serious in a good way. You must read The Last Colony before you get this one. But Zoe's Tale will bring s ...more

one of those books that's just bad enough to not want to read, yet just good enough to not quit.

well, i liked Scalzi's other books. and, while i cant say that they were amazing, i definitely thought that they were entertaining--even though i had some issues with the content. i tell my friends that its "sci-fi lite".

Zoe's Tale is The Last Colony but from Zoe Bouitn-Perry's, adopted daughter of Jane Sagan and John Perry, point of view. That kinda threw me off guard as I was not expecting that when I started to read the novel. Not bad thing as I still liked the novel...but still a slight curve bal ...more

Fits well into the Old Man War series. Fun read like all the others.

The secret story behind the events told in The Last Colony. This story is told from the viewpoint of Zoe, the 15 yr old adopted daughter of John Perry and Jane Sagan.

I actually liked this one better than The Last Colony. The teenagers interacting with each other was quite amusing.

Deja vue all over again. I really didn't want to re-read the last colony from the POV of a smart aleck teen with pet aliens. Blech. I might have liked some other part of Zoe's life, but not the part I already read and knew what happened.
