I actually did read this, and #'s 2 and 3, over the course of a few years, and have been meaning to get back to them-- I don't like seeing the movies before reading the books. Unfortunately I get to them so rarely that I tend to forget what happened-- I think I'll have to reread the first three before moving on and finishing the series.

Worldwide bestselling phenomenon. British public school made magical. Ultimate cindarella story for young abused orphan boy who finds himself actually a hero. Yawn.
Note: I re-read this in July 2007 (along with the other 5 books) prior to the release of the final volume in the Harry Potter series.
