What do you say? The end of a popular, well-done series.
The beginning, still, perhaps, of an era. It has long seemed inevitable that with competition from all the other modern forms of media, that print, or more importantly, prose, would suffer a long downhill slide that would never kill it, but could make it... 'least among equals' with other artforms.

For the first time in the series, I was able to read the book straight through. I finished it exactly 24 hours after I got the book at the midnight party, only stopping for 3 hours of sleep, to walk the dogs, and for a little food. It was well worth it! I won't reveal any of the secrets because they are so important to realize on your own. I cried three times, some for deaths and some just for nostalgia. I am so sad to see this story end. I thought that Rowling did not disappoint because, yet ag

Breathtaking, stunning, and heart-wrenching are the first words that come to mind after finishing this final installment in the Harry Potter series. Rowling most definitely delivers with book seven. Going into this final book, I was apprehensive about what was to come, and from the very first chapters I was sucked back in to this familiar world feeling the highs and lows right along with Harry. Though I won't go too into detail for those still reading, I will say that for a while I thought the h

Although this was not my favorite Harry Potter book, it did have some shining moments. I loved how Harry defeated Voldemort, and I thought the scene in which he walked out to the Forbidden Forest to meet his death was quite gripping, especially as Sirius, Lupin, and his parents guided him along. I liked the flash back scene through the pensieve with Snape. It was very enlightening, and I have to admit that I'm glad he turn out to be on of the good guys. Making Snape evil from b ...more

Synopsis:
Harry Potter braces for his final battle with evil Lord Voldemort, knowing that only one of them will survive.
Review:
My biggest criticism of Harry Potter has always been his passivity. In the first few books especially, he spends most of his time being rescued or protected, simply because he’s “The Boy Who Lived.” And for awhile, it seemed as though JK Rowling wasn’t paying attention–was creating a hero who didn’t deserve to bear that name.

I was worried that this would be a let down but, for the most part, it wasn't. Once I began reading, I could barely put it down, and I was quite satisfied with the fact that J.K. Rowling didn't make it too overly resolved, or too unneccesarily dark. I like the resolution with the exception of the POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING! 'nineteen years later' chapter at the end of the book which, although I ate it up, I still found hokey and unnecessary (and a little bit pandering).

so J.K actually redeemed herself with this one. following through with most if not all of her plot threads shows that she is not the hack writer that i had imagined and may have indeed had a plan. the characters are still obnoxious and SPOILER WARNING harry's dad is never redeemed, but other than that the book ends the series exactly as it should. anyone looking for more should realize that it is a children's series and that j.k. is not a great writer. good, but not great.

Well, at least we can say it ended and we don't have to wait for another book. This was the first of the Harry Potter books that I didn't really care if I finished. I was actually able to put the book down a number of times and walk around thinking about other books I could be reading instead. I guess I'm glad to know what happened to all the characters that I loved, I'm just a little sad that their final story was so mediocre.

Sometimes it was Harry Potter and the silly plot devices, but it ended it for me in a satisfying way, more or less.
