So, I accidentally read book 2 of this series first. Then I think that this book was out at the library, so I just continued on to book 3. That was a year ago. (I loved the other books, by the way.) But since I read the books out of order, I knew how this turned out before I ever started. And quite frankly, I don't like the Drew children as much as I do Will and Bran. Thus the 3 stars. (I did find a new fondness for Barney, though.)

The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper is one of my husband's favorite fantasy series. I completely missed it as a child and only recently started reading her books (and this series). Although Over Sea, Under Stone launched the series in 1965, it's actually the third book for me in the series I've read so far. I still have Greenwitch and Silver on the Tree.

I started reading this book a long time ago, but I had to return it before I finished it. I remember it was a bit Arthurian, and it also reminded me a bit of the movie, The Goonies. Now, after finishing this book, I can't wait to continue her Dark is Rising Sequence. I wouldn't say it was the best book I ever read, but I really enjoyed taking an adventure with these kids is their quest for the grail.
