This is a novel I'd heard about for awhile & I think I finally checked it out from the library after seeing it mentioned in a SDMB thread about alternate history stories.
I'm a bit of a sucker for alternate takes on familiar stories, and IMHO Saberhagen's novel is one of the standouts of the genre, not only in terms of age (published in 1975) but in quality as well.
