Recommend to: People who enjoyed the first book in the series obviously. In the end, the character progression is worth it and the series is very good.

I'd imagine almost everyone scoffs at the premise of this book. (view spoiler) This isn't that big of a deal though and it is easy to move on from.

The character progression works well, but the plot moved too slowly in this one. (view spoiler)

Some of what made this book so engaging when it came out is probably lost on modern readers. This was maybe the first book to spend significant time on Coruscant. This came out before the Phantom Menace, so Coruscant was barely on the radar. Most of Star Wars had happened out in space or on remote planets. It was tremendously fascinating to suddenly be taken to the center of the galaxy in this book.

Other random things I noticed:
- It was hilarious that the Emperor included a "Sith Artifact Room" in the Galactic museum.
