3.5 stars. This is my fourth Reynolds book, and I found it to have the same strengths and weaknesses as the others: the plot is serviceable; the setting and the technology are great, and so is the idea of the characters; however, the characterizations themselves are lacking and the dialog is painfully stilted.

Simply amazing. If you like sci-fi, you're going to love this book.

I really love this one. It covers a great amount of time but the story is nevertheless gripping. There are many really interesting ideas. I would like to read more stories in this universe.
Fairly-fun space opera. Not-quite-as-good as every book by Ian Banks :) No particularly stand-out sci-fi concepts...
