What Members Thought
Before I begin, I should note that I like The Hobbit better than The Lord of the Rings, but I liked The Earthsea Trilogy better than either. If you're a fantasy fan, that tells you a lot about my tastes.
That being said, The Elfin Ship reads a great deal like The Hobbit -- from a protagonist who would rather sleep in his bed at home than on the road, to a roguish magical character of uncertain power. One of those books I read and enjoyed as a late teen and now afraid to re-read for the chance of finding out it's not as good as I remembered.
