The second book in Britain's Green Rider sequence was written several years after the first and does show an improvement in writing skill from the author.
Of course all the fantasy tropes and cliches are still present. In fact the Lord of the Rings elements become even more evident here as the Eletians are shown to be blatant elf substitutes.

This book comes back a few years after the first book, Green Rider. In this book, the Green Riders are being decimated, and the breach in the Dyer Wall is getting bigger. The heroine must help motivate and lead the Green Riders when the captain is unable to. A subplot in the book is the romantic tension between Karigan and King Zachry. How will the king resolve it?

I simply love the way Kristen Britain writes. Her characters become your friends and enemies, your hopes and sorrows, your loves and loses. I can't wait to find out what else awaits Karigan in her role as a Green Rider.
