Another excellent book, the best fantasy I've read since A Song of Ice and Fire, and I'd recommend this trilogy to those who like that series. I think Abercrombie's writing and his characterizations are fantastic.
Repetitiveness in a novel usually drives me to distraction, but other than a few too many references to people's teeth (or lack thereof) I really like how Abercrombie uses repeated phrases to establish the recurring thoughts of his characters.

I am truly impressed with Joe Abercrombie's ability to make me like his characters, no matter what reprehensible things they do. (Glokta, I'm looking at you.) I'm sorry I've waited so long to read these books, as they're reminding me why I love fantasy in the first place. I will reading the third book of the trilogy without delay.
