A Review of Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind
Rating: Five Stars
Edition: Mass Market Paperback
Genre: Fantasy
Wizard's First Rule is the first book in the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. The Sword of Truth series is an awesome fantasy series, but this book is probably my favorite of all of them. I don't know how many times I've read this one. If you are a fantasy fan and haven't read this series, you are missing out. I highly recommend this book and this series.

This first book of the Wizard's First Rule series is inarguably the best, in terms of the way it just grabs you and holds you and makes you love the characters and want to know how everything works out for them in the end. That's why I keep coming back, no matter how much the series lags towards the end, I am emotionally invested in Richard, Kahlan, Zed, and the rest of the gang.

I really vacillated on whether I liked this book. I don't think that the quality of the prose is very good, but the story is great. I would find myself annoyed by how poorly put a passage had been--and then forget because I was caught up in the story. I'm starting the second book in the series now, but am not sure how far I'll get.

I have to admit that I wasn't very impressed with the first book in this series. I actually think that this is the weakest of the books. The series does get better, as it strays away from the standard fantasy motiff. Don't get me wrong, I would still call these books fantacy.
