It's Kay doing what he alone can, fantasy-historical combination like no other. However, this one just doesn't cut it for me when compared to his other works. A whole horde of characters plus entire paragraphs dedicated to minor characters who we never meet again. But again, no one does it quite like Kay.

If you just collect or like to read Guy's books its another one for the shelves, but if you just want to check out the author, pick one of his earlier books, like the Fionavar Tapestry. ...more
