I enjoyed the re-read after many years. But some of the attitudes seem kind of... old-fashioned? It reads like a story written by a child of the 50s, a reader of Robert Heinlein. I suppose it should read that way because both things are probably true.

The story is unfolding very slowly. I was looking forward to a fast paced book of guerrilla warfare by uplifted chimps and gorillas. The pace starts to pick up around p.200 where we are finally starting to see some action.
I could have done without the bit on the uplifted neo-chimp's sexual turn-ons and the neo-chimp stripper. In fact I have to worry about the author who obviously spent a bit of time thinking about this.
