An interesting near future story based on the idea that people with similiar attitudes and likes/dislikes will gather into electronic tribes.
Also a lot of high tech cell phone usage for communication and other things, plus a state psychological system gone very wrong.
The story is Art's, who's played by his friend and his lover. It tells about how he gets in and out of trouble at a very frenetic pace.

I always enjoy Doctorow's books. He doesn't need my detailed analysis. All I can say is that I think having 10,000 tunes auto downloaded to your car's MP3 (or future equivalent) is a tad much. Maybe that's just me, but I'm pretty sure I don't like 10,000 songs. I probably like a couple hundred at most.

This was another read on the T on my Palm. I never really did figure out what the tribe was about and somewhere in the middle I started thinking that I didn't like the story that much - too much crazy conniving girlfriend shtick and depressing trapped in a mental institution scenes, but then it all worked out for the best.
