I highly recommend this series! The rebellion that I wanted to start in The Hunger Games takes root in this book, but the story is still told from Katniss' perspective so we only see the world through what the President allows her to see. The book is packed with action--overzealous soldiers, riots, fires, and, of course, the hunger games. And the book is a coming-of-age, sort of awakening for Katniss where she has to begin to answer some tough questions. Does she have real feelings for Peeta? Or ...more

You know, I really wanted this to be about the after-effects of such a huge, traumatic experience. The hero returns to the Ordinary World and finds it changed - but the change is actually in her. How does she deal with that?

Answer: she doesn't! because there are O NOZ MORE DANGER!

Lost interest midway through. Yes, that's right: I stopped reading Catching Fire because I lost interest.

This book kind of suffered from the same deficiency that most TV shows suffer, that is all the adults seem two dimensional and act like idiots. Ok, not all of the adults but certainly President Snow. I could not help but think he did everything wrong in trying to quash a rebellion and it did not make sense for someone whom was repeatedly described as being smart and holding on to power for so long.

So good! Couldn't put it down. Now I'm sad because I have to wait for the next book to come out, and this one only came out a few weeks ago. It's going to be a long wait. ...more

just as gripping as the first one, and with a serious cliffhanger ending that has me counting down the days til august. katniss is awesome; it continues to amaze me how much of a typical teen she is while going through this crazy survivor-type gladiator game.
