re-reading in preparation for A Dance With Dragons read originally in 2006.
I have to say, re-reading this was a real pleasure, particularly after reading the intitally promising, but ultimately a waste of time Malazan Book of the Fallen Series by Steven Erikson. The characters are so varied and well written that they feel real--also you never feel like the trajectory of the story is lost--it all seems to hold together without too much extraneous detail.
