An inspiring and moving book. Would've given it a full five stars had I not read it's critiques.
First the good part, Hans Rosling uses data to tell captivating story. He draws you in with innocuous questions about the world and slowly reveals how mistaken you and so many of us are (including schools teachers and Nobel laureates). The fact that we need a pop science book to remind us the disadvantage of identity thinking, such as Religionism, Racism, Nationalism, Genderism, means that our education system has a lot to do with truth education. This book is just Science Research 101, or even Critical Thinking 101. Essentialism is an old school concept in the field of Philosophy.
