A series of horrendous murders takes place and the evidence increasingly points to a woman as the culprit. The detective, Kurt Wallander, is interesting and likable—divorced with a grown daughter, no life but a love interest in the background if he can set aside his work a bit. Lots of speculation about how Sweden is going to the dogs.
