I've read 9 books of the Wallander Series and this is the first one that truly disappoints me. It just doesn't 'feel' like a Mankell book - there is nothing here about the well-developed characters and their relationships that are present in all previous books. The story is not as strong as previous ones and Linda's antics just made me want to stop reading.

Linda Wallander, is definitely not a likable character. I doubt Mankell will have the same kind of success with a series about this disrespec ...more

I am glad I finally got around to reading some of Mankell. I have seen glimpses of the Inspector Wallander series on BBC TV but have not paid much attention to the character. This was my first introduction and I really enjoyed the experience. I will certainly be reading more of the series.

Well translated. Situational settings and characters are real and easy to relate to. Suspense and action are compelling.
