This book picks up right after the cliff hanger ending of Wayward. Don't read any farther if you plan on reading the first two books in the series. Ethan has revealed the secret of Wayward Pines and in retaliation Pilcher has cut off power to the town and opened the gates so that the abbies can come in. The majority of the book deals with the town trying to fend off the invasion. The book consists of short chapters with constantly changing POV's.
