Excellent book by the captain of Sir Ernest Shackleton's Antarctic exploration ship, the Endurance. Captain Worsley gives great insights on one of the greatest survival stories of the modern era. He also gives helpful info on the differences between Antarctic & Arctic environments--as he explored both areas. He also adds some good additional info on Shackleton's earlier attempt to reach the South Pole (he & companions had to turn back when only 97 miles away from reaching it) and on the trials &

I read this sometime in the dim past. Not too dim. But, it was riveting. Endurance was the name of the ship, but it certainly applied to the captain and crew. I think this is the one where the captain crossed on foot to a town on the other side of whatever land/ice thing they were on and his crew survived on fish or whale or something - for months. Incredible. Some of the crew signed on with him again. They had complete trust.
