I really enjoyed this. It’s been a while since I’ve read a Stephanie Plum book, so I don’t know if this one is truly better than the last few, or if it’s a case of absence making me fonder.
Stephane is on the track of a NJ mobster who jumped bail, and meanwhile someone is killing his mobster buddies and firebombing his accountant, plus a Russian assassin is after Ranger, and of course Grandma Mazur is up to her usual tricks, and Morelli and Bob make appearances. I got a little behind on the Stephanie Plum mysteries, so I got to enjoy two Plums this summer. Enjoy is a good word when it comes to the Plums. You aren't going to take away any great insights from these stories. You aren't going to rethink your life. You aren't going to learn any new ideas. It's okay. These books are all about getting lost in a fun ride and hanging with some zany folks for a couple of hours. So, enjoy.

Meh....this series has lost its "zing." Joe and Steph would be about 50 now in real time and it shows. Even Briggs was boring this time and he's one of my favorites. Lula got the one good line--"Used to be you had to get on a plane to see a slum of this quality." The Chihuahuas were a nice touch though. No Joyce Barnhart (she was mentioned)? Does someone else ghost write these now? They just aren't hitting the mark any more. Babe. Time to marry off Steph and Joe and let them live out their lives
