Not at all uninteresting. I had been using this book as a door stop but I'm glad I promoted it, am glad I finally read it. It's not even that old-fashioned except for when Cécile's father says she'll never have to worry about her future since she'll always have a man to take care of her. Otherwise, the manipulations and deceptions are pretty timeless.
