Love. Great first book of 2012. Novel set in un-named postwar Balkan country (Serbia, I assume, unless I'm really confused). It's really just a day in the narrator's life, but that didn't occur to me until after I'd finished reading the whole thing. Lots of flashbacks to the narrator's family's past, lots of stories (of the family and folklore varieties), lots of rakija (must try that stuff one of these days), a few zombie-like encounters (but that's ok).

The writing was good. The last 100 pages dragged. The story/plot=huh?? Maybe 2.5 stars.
This is more a 3.5 stars. Overall I enjoyed the book, but at times I felt like I was forcing myself to get through it.
I kept waiting for this book to go somewhere, it never did!
