Finished the first two stories: Proulx's writing is direct, visceral and at times brutal, a la Hemingway and Jack London.
Upon finishing:
Proulx is undoubtedly a masterful writer. The modern Wyoming landscape and culture are deftly represented without any frills, sensitive readers be damned.

I'm afraid this book was just too dry and dusty for me. Plus, I personally don't really like to read short story collections. However, I really did love the story "Pair of Spurs".
