This book is fantastic. I can see why Obama uses Lincoln's conduct as a guide in developing his own leadership style. Was Lincoln a genius? In my opinion, "yes", but sometimes he was too much of a nice guy, which hurt the country. Everything worked out in regard to the Civil War irrespective of that, and it was the delays in bringing the war to a close that led us to the Emancipation Proclamation and subsequently, the Thirteenth Amendment.

I love historical nonfiction, but I found this book very difficult to read. It does not help that there are several protagonists, and Goodwin jumps back and forth between them. They are not all exactly all the most interesting subjects, to be honest.
Did not finish this amazing biography--I have to move on to other things right now--but the first many chapters are amazing! A much more interesting and important take on biography than the classic style. Goodwin is amazing.
Fascinating reading, and excellent proof that the best leaders rule with a guiding hand and an open heart rather than force and recrimination.
Wow, this book. Also it is not lost on me that I finished it on the anniversary of Lincoln's death, which is awesome.
