Inspector Montalbano, recovering from a gunshot wound in his shoulder, is home recovering when a young girl is kidnapped. Called back into active duty (sort of), they work to solve the kidnapping. The girl is happily recovered, but for Montalbano, not all is as it seems on the face of things.
