Though longer than it needed to be for me to connect with the counter culture of the early 1970's, an okay read.

Another solid novel from Boyle - I adore the depth and richness he gives to his stories and his characters. This one's especially nice for the way he draws and balances the tension between a group that tries to be loving of everyone and an environment that loves no one.

Usually I hate books about hippies getting high, but this one was good. I liked that it wasn't only about being a hippie, but about the bad things that can happen when a bunch of hippies move to Alaska to get closer to nature.
