“We are okay” was just ok, for me. I found the writing style smothering, overly descriptive and not much actually happening.

I saw our futures unfolding, all pink clouds and cacti and bright sun and forever.

A beautiful little book; perfect to read during a long and chilly day spent indoors alone; a day that will allow Marin's deep loneliness to seep into you.

It was terrifying, the idea that we could fall asleep girls, minty breathed and nightgowned, and wake up to find ourselves wolves.

Marin is introspective, and her narration regularly invites the reader to analyze her as well (sometimes in a subtly meta way)

4.5 stars, and a well-deserved spot on my list of favourite authors.
It’s really hard to explain how this book made me feel, but in short: it was beautiful. And I think part of the reason it made me feel all those things is the timing.
Do you ever think that if you’d started reading a particular book only a week earlier it wouldn’t have affected you as much as it did? That’s the case with this book.

A Bear and a Bee Books
This was another case of the right book at the right time. Though this book is rife with Jane Eyre spoilers, it is it’s own story as well. This book can be an exercise in dealing with grief and loss. Some of the main characters realizations definitely hit home. I would recommend it to those that have suffered terrible loss. However, only when they are ready to move on. I believe I will take a couple of these ideas with me for the rest of my life.
