What Members Thought

The Book Thief failed to impress me as I felt the story did not live up to the hype that this book has got, I have read a lot of books on the subject and this one falls way short compared to others that I have read. I did not find myself drawn into the story although I liked the characters and thats the reason for my 3 stars

I'm haunted by humans
This book was like a quiet heartbreak. It filled my heart with love and happiness and the small joys of being alive. My heart disintegrated into ashes leaving a bitter taste in my mouth.

Good concept. Told by death. Historical story. Sad at times but just okay read to me. I've heard so much good things about this story. Thought it'll be more. But yeah again just okay. Liesel is a book thief. Small child going through so much doing 1939 with Nazis Germany. with so much death happening around Liesel she's just being a little girl. Wanting to learn to read and write while playing with her friend Rudy. Her Papa and Mama were something else. I enjoyed this story but it's nothing I se

Just brilliant. Brilliant. I asked my wife to recommend a 'wow' book, and she suggested this. Totally absorbing and strangely uplifting. Try his book The Messenger too.

Well firstly I want to comment how original is the idea of the book - the storyteller is the Death and the books are presented as treasures. It really pulls :). The focus is set on the power of the words. The story is simple and a little bit slow in the beginning. The monologues of the Death are very interesting. Here is one from the beginning: "Here is a small fact: You are going to die." and here is my favorite "Death: It kills me sometimes, how people die.". To be honest in the middle of the
