Would you believe me if I said that I believed that this was about a real, obscure band from the '70s for the first two hours of the audio book?
I mean, I love '40s to '90s music. I still search avidly for the stuff. I listened to the audiobook of Daisy Jones and The Six and I did not regret it . It was a great book I enjoyed it very much who does not love stories about sex, drugs, and rock and roll 🎸.
Okay. So this is basically ‘A Star Is Born’ with more angst, far less likeable characters, and better lyrics. The gimmick of the entire book being conducted as a series of interviews works okay at the beginning, but quickly palls and can’t sustain any emotional resonance. Plus, while this is well-written, it is hard to overlook that there is not a single original note in here. I’m all for turning over a cliché or two, but at least subvert them while you’re doing it. What makes this book, for me, was how the story was told. It was a good story and well-written. However it could have been just that. But the interview style added another dimension, depth to the story.
The Six were a good band but, with Daisy, they were incredible. Then they broke up. This book unravels why they broke up.

Não dou 5 estrelas porque em audiobook deve resultar melhor. Por vezes fiquei confusa com os excertos das entrevistas e tive que voltar atrás para perceber quem estava a contar a história.
