So this was a reread for me, which I don’t often do. But I remember really enjoying the creepiness of this one a lot. As for the second time around, I’m just as creeped out.
I feel like I would have taken one look at the roof and been like, NOPE!! Not going in there!! But I assume there’s a pull like moths to a flame, which freaks me out. As if there was no other choice than to go inside. To be scared and have to proceed anyway.
James and Amelia are almost sickeningly cute together. I guess ...more

This was classified as horror, but I wouldn't call it horror in the conventional sense. There is a sense of creepiness and foreboding as the protagonists discover and explore the fantastical premise of a house at the bottom of a secret lake that they find only by traveling through a narrow tunnel. Not to give too much away, but the house defies all laws of physics as it stands and is fully furnished with items that appear normal despite being underwater. If you read The Bird Box, this is totally

I'm confused a list of the ending. I thought the romance was okay but the mystery of the house. The house is my favorite thing but I want to know what happened at the end. ...more

I was torn giving this book 2 stars because I did enjoy the first half of the book (in a way). The language was simple, and the characters had about 2 motivations which didn't make any sense, and these kids just kind of blew off their jobs and families to spend time on a lake exploring... OKAY THAT'S FINE BUT WHERE'S THE HORROR? I felt that Malerman was repeating the same thing over-and-over as I got closer to the end of the story. (view spoiler)

I didn't like it as much as I did Bird Box, which is one of my favorites, but it was still good. I especially liked the originality of it-it's not a storyline I've came across before.

This novel was absolutely intriguing, it has a great title and an air of mystery.
Although I was hoping that this would be a horror/ thriller type of novel, it is not. I have a knack for adventure and to be honest, I'd love to find a freaking house at the bottom of a lake and be able to explore it, I'm sure many of us would want to as well. The short novel was off to a great start- until the actual house was found, from there on the pace was exceedingly fast and it would've been nice if there wa ...more

I have questions, the ending doesn't feel like good closure....
