Alex Hunter, the Arcadian, goes back to Antarctica, or at least, beneath it, and faces an old menace. And we, the readers, are along for the ride. This book is as much horror as action. I have always thought as the polar ice caps melt, something will be revealed that we may not want unleashed in the modern world. Pathogens that could wipe out humanity. I loved it! Beneath The Dark Ice was the book that got me hooked on Greig Beck's novels. So I was thrilled to realize Kraken Rising was a sequel to it. This book didn't disappoint! It had all the heart-pounding, page-turning action and thrill of the first book, and then some. My favourite book of the Alex Hunter series so far I think. Can't wait to read the next one! ...more
